Golden Boot Preview and Betting Tips – 2019/20 Season

With the Premier League kicking off in just a few days, there’s a lot of hype around the new season already and why shouldn’t there be? There’s plenty to look forward to this term.

One of the key questions up for debate is who’s going to win the golden boot this season?

Here are the bookie’s favourites for the golden boot in the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Harry Kane – 4/1

The Tottenham man once again heads into the new season as the Golden Boot favourite.

After netting just 17 goals last season, Kane missed out on the Golden Boot by 5 goals. A big part of that comes down to injuries. Surely Kane would have scored at least another 5 goals if it wasn’t for his Ligament injury which saw him miss 9 games during last year’s campaign.

To put it into perspective, Kane’s goals per minute ratio was actually better than that of Salah and Mane last season.

A fit Kane can net a lot more goals and put a serious challenge to the likes of Mo Salah and Sadi Mane.

Mo Salah – 5/1

Can Mohammed Salah equal the record for most consecutive Golden Boots and win it for the third time?

Last season he scored a total of 22 goals for Liverpool and shared the award with teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Having been with Liverpool for just two seasons and winning the Golden Boot each term, the Reds have had some serious return out of Salah.

No matter where Liverpool end up in the league, you can be sure Salah will net a large number of goals. He’s certainly worth a bet at odds of 5/1.

Sergio Aguero – 11/2

The frontman for Man City is another one to keep your eye on during the 2019/20 season. He hasn’t won the Golden Boot since the 2014/15 season so he’ll be looking to get back to the top.

Having scored 21 times last term, Aguero just missed out on the Boot. However, he featured in fewer games than Salah, Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Expect Man City to play in a similar way to last season creating loads of opportunities and scoring a lot of goals.

What’s more, if Kevin De Bruyne can stay fit throughout the entire season, you’d expect Aguero will benefit from his assists.

At 11/2, you’d say Aguero is good value.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 8/1

Scoring a total of 22 goals last season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the Golden Boot along with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. In all honesty, I thought the odds for a second Golden Boot for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be shorter.

Despite Arsenal not having a great season, only finishing 5th, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still smashed in a heap of goals. Like Aguero, he featured in fewer games than both Salah and Mane making his goals per minute ratio better.

If Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in the Man City or Liverpool team, even reluctant Arenal fans would have to admit that he would undoubtedly score more goals.

However, considering he scored the joint-most goals last season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at odds of 8/1 is well worth a bet in my view.

Sadio Mane – 12/1

Having won the Golden Booth with teammate Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mane needs to be added to this list.

You may be surprised at the relatively long odds on Mane winning the Golden Boot this season.

However, I’d tend to agree with the bookmakers on this one, there are too many other players that are likely to score a lot of goals and beat him to the top spot.
