I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of Here is back – Who’s The Sure Bet?

Last night, one of the biggest and most anticipated TV programmes returned to our screens for its latest instalment. I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of Here aired for the first time this year, 2017. It’s one of the biggest TV betting events and it’s a sure bet that will stay the same this year.

Last year, the Betfair betting exchange took over £1 million in bets for the winner market alone. This year they have predictions this could double to £2 million.

Here’s what Katie Baylis, from Betfair said to SBC News:

‘I’m a Celebrity is definitely one of our biggest TV markets of the year and last year on Betfair Exchange we saw well over £1m bet on the winner market alone. There is already a huge buzz about the show this year and considering some of the big names heading into the jungle, we are expecting a huge amount of interest betting wise and wouldn’t be surprised if we topped £2m this year.’

Talking about Jennie McAlpine’s chances of winning she said:

‘She’s definitely one of the bigger names in the jungle this year and as the lovable Fizz in Corrie, viewers will be expecting her to be just as friendly and popular in the jungle as she is on the cobbles. We’ve also seen some early money for Jack Maynard and Jamie Lomas so those three at this stage are our early favourites.’

She went on to say:

‘There’s going to be a huge curiosity factor from viewers when it comes to whether Stanley Johnson talks much about his son and Rebekah Vardy about her husband, while Amir Khan and Dennis Wise are both controversial characters who could make life very interesting down under – so we’re not counting anyone out at this stage.’

So Who’s in the Jungle?

Each year there are 12 contestants who start in the Jungle and there are always more to join later on. This year there are a number of big names and a few, well… less known!

So, let’s have a look at who’s in the jungle down under in 2017.

Stanley Johnson

Best known for being the dad of Boris Johnson, the current foreign secretary. Stanley is a British politician and author in his own right.

Dennis Wise

Dennis is an ex-footballer who played mostly for Chelsea and England.

Rebekah Vardy

Not so much a celebrity in her own right, more a WAG. Jamie Vardy’s wife is also going to be on the show.

Jack Maynard

Jack Maynard is a YouTuber and the brother of singer Connor Maynard. He currently has 1.2 million subscribers on YouTube

Jamie Lomas

Jamie Lomas is an actor in the soap opera Hollyoaks.

Jennie McAlpine

Jennie is an actress and comedian best known for playing Fiz Brown in the soap opera Coronation Street. She is one of the favourites according to the bookies.

Georgia Toffolo

Georgia, known of Toff, is a reality TV star from the popular show Made in Chelsea on E4. She and Amir Khan were the first ones voted to take on the Bushtucker trial in 2017. Could this be a tell tale sign?

Amir Khan

Boxing champion Amir Khan doesn’t need introducing. He won an Olympic silver medal in Athens in 2004.

Vanessa White

One part of the popular girl band The Saturdays.

Shappi Khorsandi

Shappi is a glamorous British comedian and author. She has performed at Latitude and Glastonbury festivals.

Kezia Dugdale

Kezia is an ex Scottish politician and was the leader of the Labour party from 2015 to 2017.

Who’s a Sure Bet to win?

Despite the early markets pointing to Corrie’s Jennie McAlpine as a likely winner, a strong performance from Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, has seen her installed as a front-runner. The glamorous Made In Chelsea star is now 7/2 favourite at Betfred to win outright after impressing the public with her bravery in the first Bushtucker Trial.
