With the betting industry becoming ever interested in eSports, Betway have signed a deal to be the main sponsor of the ESL Pro League for 2017.
The 6th season of the ESL Pro League has just started, where professional players compete for a staggering US$1,000,000 prize pool and the chance of being crowned champions. There are 28 teams from across North America and Europe taking part. The League play a game called CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive).
The 28 teams will compete purely online, playing each other in the league. Winning teams receive 3 points for a win. If the game goes into overtime the winners take home 2 points and the losing side take home a single point. The top 6 teams at the end of the 11 week league will meet in Odense, Denmark, for a play off where one of them will be crowned champions.
All of the matches are streamed live to YouTube so enthusiasts can watch from anywhere in the world.
Betway’s Sponsorship
Thanks to the new deal, Betway will also stream a number of the CS:GO games while also allowing viewers to see live odds within the broadcast. Betway and other betting companies are perfectly poised for the eSports market to take off. The overall eSports market is predicted to be worth US$1.5 billion by 2020.
